Session Update - September 10, 2026

The Session and Diaconate met together in a stated Consistory meeting over dinner.

  • TE Ferguson led the elders and deacons in a brief devotional on Acts 6.

  • The Consistory received updates on significant needs within the congregation and other various matters as information.

  • The Consistory approved hosting “A Night’s Welcome” in December 2026 with Judah Cohee serving as point of contact.

  • The Consistory received and recorded the following virtual actions:

    • To approve using funds in the Capital Campaign account, currently at ~$20.8k, to pay down the principal balance on the existing loan.

    • To approve a $1,100 overage for the LDR Budget.

  • The next stated Consistory meeting will be Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The Session convened afterward in a stated meeting.

  • TE Phillips led a devotion from Jewels from John Newton.

  • The Session and Alongside Caregivers received as information various shepherding and care team reports and discussed urgent shepherding needs. The Session entered a season of prayer with the Alongside Caregivers for these and other congregational needs. Following prayer, the Alongside Caregivers were dismissed from the meeting.

  • The Session approved Mike Glodo to preach during Lord’s Day Worship on October 4.

  • The Session approved an overage of $625 from Session Business to cover the cost of purchasing Paul Tripp’s Book Parenting for the fall Sunday School program.

  • The elders received a report from the commissioners to the August 29, 2026 Called Presbytery Meeting of the Tidewater Presbytery.

  • Scott Mericle was appointed as commissioner to the October 1, 2026 meeting of the Tidewater Presbytery.

  • The Session received updates on the search for a new women’s ministry director.

  • The next stated Session meeting will be Thursday, October 8, 2026.
