Session Update - August 13, 2026
The Session and Diaconate did not meet in a stated Consistory meeting in August.
The next stated Consistory meeting will be Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The Session convened in a stated meeting.
TE Schley led a devotion on John 6:37-40.
The Session received as information various shepherding and care team reports and discussed urgent shepherding needs. The Session held a season of prayer.
The Session welcomed Ward Wilson, Marian May Hall, Cassidy Bennett and Jim Weill to share their Atlantic City Missions Team report and ideas on how to help the members of CRPC learn some of the lessons shared.
The Session approved various expenditures, including: spending $500 of rebalance funds to replace pew bibles with Large Print editions, and covering the SB2W camp expenses out of the rebalance funds.
The Session appointed various ministry team leaders, including:
Marian May Hall to replace Meryl Mac Donald as Missions Ministry Team leader, to serve alongside Tim Wilson.
Megan Outhous and Cassidy Bennett to lead the Followup Team.
Van Rhodes was appointed as commissioner to the August 29, 2026 Called Meeting of the Tidewater Presbytery, with Scott Mericle as alternate.
The elders agreed to study “Principles of the Gospel Family” in the Fall Adult Sunday School class, with Cord Cohee and Josh Phillips coordinating teachers.
The elders discussed various matters of importance in the church, including:
Updates to the Team-Based Organizational Structure
Plans for the Director of Women’s Ministry position
Ways to connect well with Alongside Care Team caregivers
That for security purposes, all door codes have been changed
The next stated Session meeting will be Thursday, September 10, 2026.
